The Eagles extended their win streak to four and stayed undefeated on the week as they captured wins over Barclay and Manhattan.
Faith led from start to finish on Friday, scoring on their first possession and never looking back in the 26 point win against Barclay. The Eagles had a low scoring first half, as Jackson Lockard led the team with 10 of their 29 points heading into the break. The Bears never found themselves out of the game early on, until a flurry of scoring from Lockard, Cade Cooper, and Logan Fincham put the Eagles up by 9 points at the half.
Faith scored on three straight possessions coming out of the break, increading their lead to 16 before their opponent could find any footing. The second half swung heavily in favor of the Eagles as they outscored the bears by 17, forcing 14 turnovers and dishing out 10 of their 17 assists in the second frame. Three Eagles scored double-digits on the day, led by Landon Brahs' 18 points. Asa LaFleur added 11 points on 5-6 shooting from the field, and the Eagles stole the ball 15 times on their way to forcing 25 turnovers.
Saturday saw a highly anticipated rematch against the #5 team in the nation in Manhattan Christian.
The Eagles struck first with a steal and a made three from Logan Fincham, followed moments later with a make from deep from Manhattan to tie the game at 3 apiece. The teams battled through two ties and eight lead changes in the first 20 minutes, until the Eagles began to build thier lead with six minutes to go. Faith scored five quick points on consecutive possession and took a 50-40 lead into the break.
The second half saw a flurry of scoring from each team as the Eagles scored their most points in a half this season (66), and saw their highest scoring game since November of 2019 (116). Faith built their lead up to as many as 23 points in the second half and withstood the storm as the Thunder dug their way back into the game. The Eagles 75% from the free throw line in the second half led by Jackson Lockard's near perfect 13-14 from the line to help fend off their foe.
Landon Brahs led all scoring with a career high 33 points, nailing 8 of the team's 18 made three's. Lockard added 28 points, with three other Eagles scoring double-digits in the team win over their ranked opponent. With the win, Faith recorded their first regular season sweep against the Thunder since 2014 and have moved to 7-3 in MCCC standings.
UP NEXT: The Eagles finish out the regular season with three MCCC home games next week. Faith will kick off the week against Emmaus University on Tuesday, February 10 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
