Eagles Fall to Top Seeded Knights
Minneapolis, MN -- Faith men's basketball faced Spurgeon for the third time this season, saving their best matchup for last in the narrow 103-90 loss.
The Eagles came out on a mission, scoring first and matching Spurgeon's pace through the first few minutes of the game. Faith found themselves with the lead five different times in the first 10 minutes as neither team could give themselves much of an advantage early. After the first media timeout momentum shifted in favor of the Knights, and Spurgeon rocketed to lead by as many as 18 points with six minutes to go in the opening frame. The trio of Mason Gorsh, Landon Brahs, and Jackson Lockard combined for 21 points over the next five and a half minutes to bring the Eagles deficit to 10 points, and they entered halftime trailing 63-53.
Scoring slowed down for both teams in the second half and Faith never let the game get too far out of reach, but the Knights proved why they were given the #1 seed and marched to the 103-90 victory after 40 minutes of gameplay.
Mason Gorsh led all scoring on the night with 34% while shooting over 50% overall. Sam Kirkman and Jackson Lockard added 16 and 13 points respectively. Quensy Ferguson dished out a team-leading 5 assists while shooting a perfect 4/4 from the free throw line. With the loss, the Eagles will play one more game to complete their time at the National Tournament.
