Men's Basketball Clinches Regular Season Conference Championship
Ankeny, IA -- Faith men's basketball finished the regular season with a 9-3 record in MCCC play, clinching the regular season championship and the #1 seed in next week's Conference Tournament.
With two wins over the weekend Faith men's basketball saw themselves crowned the regular season MCCC champions, an acheivement they last reached in the 2014-15 season.
The Eagles finished out the season on a seven game win streak, five of those coming in conference play to bring their record to 9-3 against MCCC teams and 19-8 overall. Faith started the season hot, scoring their most points in a game since 2019 in the season opener against non-conference opponent Moody Bible Institute. The Eagles went on to score 91+ points 13 times in the regular season and reached the century mark four times, their season high coming to the tune of a 116-104 win over Manhattan on February 7th.
Faith saw their first conference test of the season as Barclay and Manhattan came to town in early December, taking wins against both opponents to start MCCC play on a high note. The Eagles didn't enter the heart of conference play until the second semester, seeing a tough 2-3 January result before remaining undefeated at a perfect 5-0 in February. The losses came by a narrow margin of 9 total points between the three games. The Eagles swept four of their conference opponents, taking both matchups against Barclay, Manhattan, Calvary, and Emmaus while splitting with Ozark and dropping both games against CCCB.
Faith leads the conference in both offense and defense, putting up an average of 91.2 ppg while holding their opponents to 74.3 ppg in MCCC competitions. Mason Gorsh and Landon Brahs currently pace the team with 20.8 and 16.8 ppg respectively while Quensy Ferguson dishes out an average of 6.7 assists per game.
The Eagles enter the conference tournament as the #1 seed and will have a first round bye before facing the winner of the #4 vs. #5 quarterfinal between Ozark and Emmaus. Full tournament fan info can be found as soon as it becomes available at fbbceagles.com
