Eagles Complete In-State Sweep
Ankeny, IA -- The Eagles moved up a spot in MCCC standings following their 82-67 Conference victory over Emmaus on Tuesday.
Mason Gorsh led the scoring efforts with 17 points, followed by Logan Fincham adding 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jackson Lockard shot a near-perfect 6-7 from the field and 4-4 from deep to round out double-digit scoring with 16 points. Quensy Ferguson dished out 7 assists and added 6 steals on the night, and all nine players who saw the court scored two or more points in the balanced team win.
The first half saw a tight competition as both teams delivered a balanced gameplan in their second matchup of the year. Lockard led the scoring in the first half, shooting 100% for 11 points through the first 20 minutes. heading into the break the Eagles scored 7 points in 45 seconds to give them a small advantage, leading 35-33 at halftime.
Fincham set the tone for the rest of the game with a made layup to start the second half and the Eagles were rolling. Faith pushed their lead to as many as 25 points with eight minutes to go, and would ultimately win by 15 points to take the regular season sweep over Emmaus.
Tuesday's win moves Faith to 17-8 overall and 7-3 in MCCC play and the Eagles are now tied for second place in Conference standings heading into the final weekend of games on February 13 and 14.
UP NEXT: Faith men's basketball will play their final regular season games of the year this Friday and Saturday at home. The Eagles will tipoff against Ozark Christian College on Friday, February 13th at 4:00 p.m. CT.
