Men's Basketball Completes Season Sweep With Win Against Wolfpack
Ankeny, IA -- The Eagles had an almost identical result on the scoreboard in their second head-to-head against Oak Hills, winning 82-65 to complete the regular season sweep of the Wolfpack
While the results on the scoreboard looked similar, the Eagles second game against Oak Hills played out much differently than the first. Faith scored on the first possession, as Mason Gorsh came off of a screen for an open three. The Eagles took the lead 13 seconds in and never released it as they jumped to an early 15-4 lead. Asa LaFleur paced the Eagles offensively, knocking down a three pointer and adding several layups to score 11 of his 19 points in the first half. The Wolfpack fought their way back into the game, even tying it with 2 minutes until halftime, but the Eagles went on a 7-0 run that gave them a buffer and they went into the break leading 53-36.
scoring for both teams went down in the second half, but the Eagles locked in on defensive, lowering their opponent's field goal shooting from 48% in the first half, to 29% in the second half. Faith also capitalised on scoring opportunities while shooting a perfect 8/8 from the line in the second half. A made layup from LaFleur with one minute remaining gave the Eagles their largest lead of the day at 17 points, and that would hold as the Eagles walked out with the 82-65 victory over their North Region opponent.
Mason Gorsh (24 pts), Landon Brahs (20 pts, 12 reb), and Asa Lafleur (19 pts, 9 reb, 4 ast) led the charge for the Eagles, combining for 63 of the team's 82 points. Quensy Ferguson dished out 8 assists and led the team in steals (3). Saturday's win moves the Eagles to 9-5 on the season, and 4-1 in North Region play.
