Eagles Open 2025 Season With a Sweep of FLBC
Ankeny, IA -- The Eagles secured their first win of the season in Friday's home opener, taking down FLBC in three sets (25-16, 25-15, 25-16).
Junior outside hitter Codie Wirges led the offense with a team-high eight kills and six aces, and tallying eight digs on defense. Freshman middle hitter Morgan Fincham added seven kills, one ace, and two blocks in her debut for the Eagles. Senior setter Reagan McPeek and Freshman setter Qwynn Nerem combined for 22 of the team's 25 assists on the day.
Sophomore libero Maddie Hofmann recorded a team-high 12 digs, adding two kills and one ace to the totals. Senior right-side hitter Belle Wirges and Freshman outside hitter Ellie Cooper each added two blocks on the defensive end.
Faith came out hot, jumping into a quick ten point lead largely due to strong serving and well-timed kills. The Conquerors made a push to bring the set within five points, but several service and attack errors forced by the Eagles ensured they would not get closer than that.
The second set saw a similar story, with both teams battling to be the first to reach ten points. Faith hit the mark first and managed to pull ahead, finishing the set with four kills and an ace to give them momentum heading into the final set.
The Eagles went on a quick 10-2 run to start the third set, and although they slowed down after that, Faith never gave up the lead or their path to victory. The Eagles finished the day with 30 kills, 14 aces, and saw all rostered players enter the match.
UP NEXT: Faith volleyball will travel to Storm Lake, IA to take on Buena Vista University on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
