Ankeny, IA -- The Eagles are set to host NCCAA DII opponent Spurgeon College on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. CT. At halftime of Thursday's match, Faith women's soccer will celebrate their lone four-year Senior, Kayla Stephens.
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles took the road and fell to NAIA opponent Hannibal-LaGrange University.
SENIOR CELEBRATION
Senior Midfielder Kayla Stephens will play in her 48th game for the Eagles on Thursday. Stephens has started 43 games and accumulated 7 goals, 4 assists, and 18 points in her time at Faith.
FIRST GOAL
Annalis Benson opened scoring for the Eagles in their season opener, finding the net in just the fourth minute of Saturday's (8/30) match. Emma Boldt provided the first assist of the season to get the Eagles on the board.
FAITH NOTES
- Faith finished the 2024 season with an 11-5-1 record, including 6-2-0 in NCCAA play. The Eagles went 6-2-0 at home and 5-3-1 on the road.
- The Eagles will face seven NCCAA opponents in 2025, two of which compete at the NCCAA Division 1 level (Hesston, HLGU).
- Faith returns a large portion of its offensive output from the 2024 season, with 67% (28/42) of its goals and 50% (12/24) of its assists.
- The Eagles return 12 members from the 2024 squad, six of which started double-digit matches in 2024; Eliana Fritz (17), Hope Ketcham (17), Kayla Stephens (16), Megan Yuan (14), Emma Boldt (13), and Jordyn Frerichs (11).
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
The Knights enter Thursday's match 0-5-0 on the season. Spurgein boasts a young core with ten freshmen and five sophomores, and are led by first year head coach Brooklynn Elder. In 2024, the Eagles won both regular season matches, walking away with a 2-0 victory at home and 1-0 on the road.
