Eagles Advance to North Region Championship
Des Moines, IA -- Faith men's soccer kicked off the North Region tournament as the #1 seed, completing the 4-0 shutout over #4 Trinity in the regional semifinals on Tuesday.
Faith took on the Lions from Trinity for the second time this season, and handled business on their way to the 4-0 victory in the North Region semifinals.
Austin Lundberg led the way with a career high 7 points, as he recorded his third hat trick of the year and assisted on the lone goal not scored by himself. Parker Lundberg added a goal and an assist of his own to round out points for the Eagles.
Similar to their regular season clash, the Eagles took control early, and kept possession for most of the match. Austin Lundberg scored his first goal on a stolen pass from a Trinity defender, which he placed in the corner of the netjust before the opposing keeper could get there. Six minutes later, he sent a pass up the field to Parker Lundberg and recieved the ball back for another quick goal. Parker finished the first half scoring in the 26th minute as Austin drew the defense away and crossed the ball for an easy header. In the second half, the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick for a risky tackle in the box, and Austin Lundberg stepped up to complete his hat trick, and wrap up scoring for the day.
The Eagles placed 13 shots on goal, and Sophomore GK Zeke Denger recorded his fourth shutout of the season with one save. The Eagles shift their attention to the North Region championship match, where they will take on Crown College on Wednesday, November 12th at 2:30 p.m. CT.
