Rohde, Men's Team Reach Qualifying Mark at Trent Smith Invitational
Mason City, IA -- Brian Rohde led the way for Faith cross country as the men's team qualified for Nationals at the Trent Smith Invitational on Saturday
Rohde PR'd with an 8k time of 29:51.04, reaching the individual qualifying mark and giving the Eagles a crucial boost on their way to team qualification. Ethan Smith and Christian Farr were the next two to finish for Faith, crossing the line seconds apart from each other. Brandon Smith and Any Hackley closed the 4-5 spots, securing the Nationals bid with a total team time of 2:57:12.0. Although their times did not count towards team totals, Maxwell Johnston and Ben Hackley finished closely behind the rest of their squad, putting up good times on the day.
The women's race saw four Faith athletes compete, as Carlie Blevins finished first for the team and fourth overall with a time of 19:58.22. BEcca Hulinsky closed the race by overtaking an opponent and finishing in 23:15.86. Lydia Mueller (25:24.10) and Leah Leary (27:31.93) both posted solid times to finish the day.
Up Next: Faith Cross Country competes in their only "home" meet of the season on Saturday, Sept. 20th. The women will run first with their 6k set to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT, with the men's 8k to follow at 11:15 a.m. CT.
