Maranatha defeated Faith 3-0 in a competitive soccer match, but the scoreline didn't fully reflect how closely contested the game was.
The Sabercats started the match with high energy, but Faith was able to settle in relatively quickly and kept the first half close, only allowing one goal in the 25th minute. The Eagles came out of the half quickly and challenged Maranatha's defenders right away, but could not land any of their shots. 2 goals in the final six minutes secured the win for the Sabercats in their first match of the rivalry.
Faith played strong defensively, allowing only 6 of Maranatha's 20 shots to be on target. Despite being unable to score, Faith controlled the tempo at times and made several offensive pushes. However, they couldn't break through Maranatha's defense. The Eagles fought hard, showing resilience throughout the match, but the Sabercats capitalized on their chances to secure the win. The Eagles will get another shot at the Sabercats as they travel to Watertown, WI next Saturday for the rematch.
Up Next: The Eagles host a Conference match against Ozark on Friday, October 18th at 3:00 PM.
