NCCAA Nationals Day 3
(Columbia, SC) - The Eagles finished out a successful Nationals meet with two more personal/program records, three top 10 finishes, and the women's team recorded their highest National Championship team score in program history.
The women's 4x100 relay team, consisting of Sierra Pearson, Codie Wirges, Hannah Wernli, and Katie Costello, started the day with a new program record of 52.66 and an 8th place finish, adding to the team's points total. Carlie Blevins ran her first of two events, placing 7th in the 1500m run and setting a PR with 4:57.00. Blevins came close to another PR as she ran the 800m later in the day, completing the race in 2:34.38.
Sierra Pearson placed top 15 in both of her events for the day, running in the 100m Hurdles finals (17.39) and 400m Hurdles (1:20.49), coming within .5 secinds of her career high in both events. Katie Costello placed 16th overall in Shot Put and 6th in her flight, throwing 9.50m. Codie Wirges rounded out the team scoring, coming in 7th place in Triple Jump with a leap of 10.01m.
The Women's team scored 10 points at the National Championship meet, beating out 5 teams including 3 from Division I, and 2 powerhouse Division II schools. This marks the highest points total for the women's team at a National Championship meet. On the men's side, Cade Cooper and Eli Boatman placed in the top 15 in every event they participated in to cap off an exciting year for Faith Track & Field.
in order to score points towards a team total, an individual must place in the top eight in their event.
