Men's Basketball Adds Kupferschmid
Elkhart, IN — Ryan Kupferschmid, the leading scorer in Elkhart Christian Academy Eagle's boys basketball history, has signed a letter of intent to continue his playing career at Faith. Ryan joins Willie Felderman and Micah VanNausdle as the third member of the Eagles '14-'15 recruiting class.
Ryan is a two-time Elkhart Truth All-Area second-teamer, and helped coach Ryan Culp's Eagles to the best record in the 10-year IHSAA portion of the school's history his senior season at 17-5. The 6-foot-2 Kupferschmid averaged 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in '13-'14. Known for his three point shooting, Ryan hit 69-of-172 outside the arc for 40.1 mark, and as a junior set an Elkhart County record with 11 threes in one game. Ryan's career point's mark stands at 1,224, which is the current school record. His career win loss record is 52-37.
Ryan has received numerous awards during his basketball career, including player of the week (several selections), All Area Team, All State, McDonald's Michiana All-Star Game selection, and several all-tournament selections. Off the court he has been selected to National Honor Society, been a scholar athlete, and been an Academic All-State selection his junior and senior year.
Ryan is the son of Eric and Debbie Kupferschmid. He will pursue a degree in Pastoral studies while at Faith.
