NCCAA Nationals Day 1
Wilmore, KY -- Austin Jordan and Cade Cooper kicked off nationals competition for the Eagles, both placing top five in the long jump event
The men's long jump event boasted a field of 18 athletes, only three of them represting NCCAA DII programs. Austin Jordan and Cade Cooper both posted solid marks in their first jumps of the day, as Jordan (6.56m) gave himself an early #4 placement. Cooper (6.44m) jumped to 6th place in his first attempt, and steadily increased his distance the next two jumps. Cooper's best leap of the day came at 6.63m, sending him to the finals. That mark would hold through the finals and Cooper placed 5th overall in the Long Jump, 9 spots ahead of his finish in 2025.
Jordan fouled his second and third prelim attempts, but his first mark would be enough to send him to the finals. in his sixth and final leap of the day, Austin jumped his best, finished the event at 6.81m and the 4th place overall finish. The top three finishers all posted marks over seven meters (7.16, 7.14, 7.04), just edging the Eagle representatives out of All-American finishes.
