Eagle Men Earn Road Victory
The Eagle men defeated host Emmaus Bible College last night 84-71 in Dubuque, IA. The Eagles are now 5-5 on the year.
Faith jumped out to a quck 7-0 lead, but back to back threes by Emmaus got the host right back into the game. Emmaus rode that momentum into a 13-0 run to lead by six with 14 minutes left in the first half. Faith re-took the lead at 14-13 and the game was neck and neck to the halftime break, with the score knotted at 39 apiece.
Faith opened the second half with two steals to jump up by four and held that lead until the 12 minute mark when a running three point shot by Emmaus went in to give Emmaus a one point lead. Faith trailed by four at 59-63, but began to put together a game deciding run over the next six minutes. Faith held Emmaus scoreless, while recording 17 unanswered points to lead by 13 with five minutes to play. Faith then maintained that lead over the final five minutes to record the 84-71 point victory. "I thought the guys showed great resiliency tonight. Emmaus shot extremely well from behind the arc, but we took their best shot and responded with our own when we needed to late in the game," noted coach Fincham.
Emmaus shot a blistering 15/34 from behind the arc. The Eagles were led by Timothy O'Tool with 29 points. Aaron Leistikow recorded another double double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
