The Faith Eagles volleyball team won their third game in a row tonight as they defeated visiting Emmaus Bible College 3-1. The win improves the Lady Eagles to13-9 overall.
Game one found the game back and forth with several ties and lead changes. Faith was able to pull away late to win the match 25-19. Building on that momentum, the Lady Eagles roared out to a 17-4 second game lead and looked poised to ride that momentum into an easy win. Emmaus did not quit, however, recapturing momentum that led to a 14-7 run before Faith was able to end the match with a 25-18 win. Emmaus had found new life, however, as they jumped on Faith early in game three. Faith made several attempts to retake the lead, but were unable to overcome Emmaus' momentum, dropping game three 20-25. Vowing not to lose another five game match, the Lady Eagles responded with their own momentum changing play, jumping out to a 6-1 lead in game four and never looking back, as they ended the match with a 25-14 game four victory. Julia Bray and JoJo Hodak led the Eagle attack with 14 and 11 kills respectively. Rikki Powell and Hodak also defended well for Faith, recording 24 and 13 digs. Stephanie Knupp added 37 assists on the night.
Faith enters their final weekend of regular season play with two important conference matches. Faith will travel to Joplin, MO on Friday to take on Ozark Christian College, and will then travel to Grandview, MO on Saturday for a triangular at Calvary Bible College. The Eagle's will face host Calvary Bible in a conference match and Hillsdale Free Will Baptist in the other game of the triangular. Friday's game will tip at 7:00 PM, and Saturday's games will be at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
