The Ladies Eagles soccer team dropped a regional contest to Providence University College (Otterburne, MB) this afternoon. The loss drops the Eagles to 4-6-0 and gives them the #3 seed for the regional tournament scheduled for the end of October. Faith will face Providence again in that matchup October 23. The tournament will be hosted by North Central University in Minneapolis, MN.
Faith was able to fend off the Providence attack for the entire first half, as Blair Smart did a nice job in goal, keeping the score at 0-0. Providence finally cracked the Eagle defense to take a 1-0 lead midway through the second half, then added another goal a bit later when a ball ricocheted off and Eagle defender and into the back of the net. Providence added a third goal deep into the half for the final 3-0 score.
The Eagles will hit the road this Saturday when they will travel to Manhattan, KS, to take on Manhattan Christian College. That game will kick off at 2:00 PM.
