Women Make it Two in a Row
The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team hosted AFLBS of Plymouth, MN on January 25th. Faith won the game 49-48. The Eagles are now 3-13 on the year.
Faith was able to get things started quick in the first half, with Carissa Grogg hitting the first shot on the baseline. Faith took the lead at 2-0 and would hold onto the lead for most of the game. With all of the starting five getting opportunities to get shots to fall in the first half, and a strong defensive effort, Faith was able to hold onto an eight point lead ending the first half up 29-21. Faith came out strong in the second half, controlling the rebounds, and playing with intensity on the defensive end. Around ten minutes left in the game, AFLBS began to make a run. Faith struggled to hold onto the lead as AFLBS began to pick up the pace and push the ball. With three minutes left in the game, AFLBS took their first lead at 45-44. Faith however was able to end on a 5-3 run thanks to a big shot by Kelsey Grider, and clutch free throws by Jenna Bean. Amber McCool's block on AFLBS last second shot put the game away as Faith was able to win their second game in a row.
The Lady Eagles were led in scoring and rebounding by Kelsey Grider with 13 points and 13 rebounds to record her fourth double double on the year. Jenna Bean led the team in assists with four and steals with five.
The Faith women's next game will be in Moberly, MO on February 1 as they take on Central Christian College of the Bible. That game will tip off at 5:00 PM.
