The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team travelled to Ellendale, North Dakota last weekend to face two region opponents. On Friday, November 30th, the Eagles faced Trinity Bible College. Faith lost the game 42-70. The following day, December 1, the Eagles faced Providence University College. Faith lost that game 50-64. Faith is now 0-2 in the region and 1-6 overall.
On Friday night, defending region champion Trinity Bible College's unrelenting pressure led to a score 0f 0-19 before Faith could even get a bucket. Turnovers resulted in basket after basket as Trinity played the first half to a 44-17 lead. Faith was able to do much better in the second half as Trinity started to rotate their lineups. Faith only lost the second half 25-26. Kelsey Grider led the Eagles with 13 points and 12 rebounds on her first double double of the year. Becca Saatmann was second on the team with six points and eight rebounds.
On Saturday, Faith was able to play better than the day before. Still, high turnovers resulted in too many easy baskets for Providence as they won the game 64-50. The first half was back and forth as both teams defended well, forcing turnovers. Providence went into half time with only a two point lead at 28-26. The Eagles started off the second half ice cold as Providence took a double digit lead. Faith was able to cut the lead to four points with six minutes to go in the game. However, Faith was unable to continue in the comeback as Providence began to score in the paint, and the Eagles could not match them. Providence won the second half 36-24. Jenna Bean led the Eagles with a season high 21 points, and four steals. Ashley Pearson led the team in rebounds with nine.
Faith's next game is at home vs. Union College of Lincoln, NE. That game will be Tuesday, December 4, and will tip off at 5 PM.
