The Faith Baptist Bible College women's basketball team opened up the season at home hosting an NAIA II opponent St. Louis College of Pharmacy this past Saturday. The young Eagles squad battled hard but came up short, losing 36-42.
Faith started their five returning players from last year's team to open the game. St. Louis jumped out to a 4-2 lead to start the game and led for the rest of the half, with the halftime score standing at 19-26. Although struggling offensively, the Eagles were defending well. Unfortunately for Faith, the second half was just too many missed opportunities. Faith outscored St. Louis 17-16 in the second half, and with seven minutes to go had a 32-31 lead for the first time in the game. However, the tired legs of the Eagles led to only three more points in the game, and St. Louis hit two three point shots down the stretch to seal the deal. "The positives are on the defensive end. We held them to 42 points, and had 12 team blocks. We need to get much sharper and confident on the offensive end," said Coach Rosekopf. Faith was led is scoring by junior Carissa Grogg with eight points, which is a career high. Sophomore Kelsey Grider had a team high 12 rebounds, and eight blocks. Kelsey tied the single game record with those eight blocks. Junior Jenna Bean had a team high five steals.
Faith's next game is Friday, November 9th at 6:00 PM vs. Northland International University. It will be White Out Night, so be sure to come dressed in all white.
