Strong Defensive Effort Propels Men to Victory

The Eagle men continued to improve their defensive effort early in the second semester, as they defeated visiting St. Louis Chrisitian 71-27 Friday night. The win puts the Eagles at 4-10 on the year and gave them their first Midwest Christian College Conference win. Faith is now 1-3 in conference play.

Faith got going on both ends from the start, jumping out to a quick 17-3 lead in the first six minutes of the game. A strong defensive effort from all 12 men in uniform led to a 44-11 halftime advantage as the Eagles had their strongest defensive effort of the year in the first half. Working on some new defensive schemes and offensive execution and patience, the Eagles received great contributions from the bench during the second half as they cruised to the 71-27 victory.

Freshman Jason Scheps had a nice game for the Eagles as he led them in scoring with 14 points on 7/10 shooting. Tyler Betz grabbed 16 rebounds and James Stephenson grabbed 10, while Justin Keck and Jon Rocha handed out four assists each. As a team the Eagles handed out 23 assists on their 30 made field goals. Eric Young and Betz each snagged two steals. The Eagles host conference opponent Central Christian College of the Bible Saturday. That game tips at 4 pm.
